October | “What Kind of Pumpkin are You?” Tag

Can you believe it’s already October??? This is insane! September felt like such a short month and the Christmas season is right around the corner. But right now let’s enjoy the season of fall and the spooky month we’re in!

I know not everyone is a fan of Halloween, to be honest I get bad anxiety when I’m in a store with very animated and scary decorations. However, what Purple Rose and I have learned is that we can enjoy the goodness in EVERY season, even if it’s one that some Christians have banned from their homes. We don’t have to celebrate every aspect of a holiday, but we can take lessons from it and teach our children to do so as well. We can’t change the world, that’s God’s role not ours, but we can bring light to it as He desires us to. Purple Rose remembered this lesson and I love that she did:

Being a Christian means we are like a pumpkin to be carved out and for God’s love to shine through, which brings us to the question of this tag…

What kind of pumpkin are YOU?

Here are the rules:

Here are the questions:

1. Do you celebrate Halloween? Why or why not?

2. Do you like to watch scary movies? Why or why not?

3. Name 3 of your greatest fears.

4. When was the last time you scared someone?

5. Do you believe in ghosts, angels, and/or demons?

6. Do you ever get déjà vu? What do you think it means?

7. What are two of your favorite candies?

Here are my answers:

1. Do you celebrate Halloween? Why or why not?

Yes and no. We used to celebrate it growing up, but a lot of bad stuff kept happening on that day and it gave us the creeps so we stopped for a while.

Mom helped me do really cool vampire make-up to the night before one year (I was thirteen and in my “Twilight” phase), which was a lot of fun. The next day, Halloween, I was getting a dumbbell in P.E. (gym) class when I knocked one off the shelf. I reached to catch it when it smacked right into my ring finger. It swelled up within minutes, was throbbing with pain, turned a dark color, and I wasn’t able to bend it when my teacher asked me to. I went to the nurse and they called my parents. I went to the doctor and had to get a sling to help with the circulation to my finger (that was hard to explain to my classmates). I hated Halloween after that.

Now I do my best to forget about those memories and enjoy Purple Rose’s “Fall Party”. 😀

2. Do you like to watch scary movies? Why or why not?

It depends on the movie. I’m not into stuff like Paranormal Activity or It. I like psychological horrors, thrillers, or stuff that has little to no gore but messes with your mind. Serial killer stuff is fun to watch as long as it’s more focused on the psychological aspect than gore (I hate gore, can you tell? XD), I think because I’ve always loved the villain, Joker, in Batman.

3. Name 3 of your greatest fears.

Disappointing someone I care about or losing their love.

Becoming my father or repeating his mistakes.

Bugs. Spiders. Lizards. Anything classified as a creepy-crawly or is small enough that I have no justification to be more scared of it than it is of me. *screams*

4. When was the last time you scared someone?

I scare people all the time, I don’t always mean to. The last time I can recall was recently when my husband was in bed and wasn’t paying attention. I ran and jumped on the bed, it probably didn’t scare him much at all, just jolted him. Lol

5. Do you believe in ghosts, angels, and/or demons?

Definitely angels and demons, but not ghosts. I believe angels and demons are often mistaken for ghosts.

6. Do you ever get déjà vu? What do you think it means?

Yes! I think it means one of two things: you are given a feeling of familiarity so that you stop and think about what you do next OR you have a routine/pattern that is easily predictable and it feels like you have already lived it when you actually haven’t.

7. What are two of your favorite candies?

Goobers (chocolate covered peanuts) and gummy bears. ❤ 😀
